Obama’s banana-republic

Obama: “Reject Voices That Warn About Government Tyranny

Sure, so he can more easily get away with using the IRS to punish his political enemies:

Was the White House involved in the IRS’s targeting of conservatives? No investigation needed to answer that one. Of course it was.

… [Frank] VanderSloot is the Obama target who in 2011 made a sizable donation to a group supporting Mitt Romney.  In April 2012, an Obama campaign website named and slurred eight Romney donors. It tarred Mr. VanderSloot as a “wealthy individual” with a “less-than-reputable record.” Other donors were described as having been “on the wrong side of the law.”

… Mr. VanderSloot, who had never been audited before, was subject to three in the four months after Mr. Obama teed him up for such scrutiny.

according to Mr. Obama, he is “outraged” and “angry” that the IRS looked into the very groups and individuals that he spent years claiming were shady, undemocratic, even lawbreaking. After all, he expects the IRS to “operate with absolute integrity.” Even when he does not.

Mark Steyn:

Most of those who’ve caught the eye of the IRS share nothing in common with [Mr. VanderSloot] other than his political preferences. They’re nobodies — ordinary American citizens guilty of no crime except that of disagreeing with the ruling party. … Is that banana-republic enough for you yet?

The Happy Wanderer: Pro Same Sex Marriage GOP Candidate…….Maybe?

Posted March 31, 2013 by vanillaman

With Rob Portman, the senator from Ohio along with the many prominent Republicans like Dick Cheney, Meg Whitman and Laura Bush supporting gay marriage is it possible to see a GOP candidate in 2016 run supporting gay marriage.

In 2012 all the GOP candidates where opposed to same sex marriage. Most in fact supported a constitutional amendment prohibiting the marriage of anyone other than a man and a women. Only John Hutsman supported civil unions. And it should be noted that Ron Paul said that the government should get out of marriage and let everyone pretty much define it for themselves.

Currently most of the that may run don’t support marriage equality. John Hutsman who now supports marriage equality may be the only candidate in the 2016 republican primary to support same sex marriage. But the question shouldn’t be if a pro same sex marriage candidate is possible, but whether the position is winnable.

Currently most republicans 61% . . . → Read More: The Happy Wanderer: Pro Same Sex Marriage GOP Candidate…….Maybe?

The Happy Wanderer: Same Sex Marriage….. About Time!

Posted March 29, 2013 by vanillaman

This week the U.S supreme court has been hearing oral arguments for and against same sex marriage as well as the Defense Of Marriage Act (DOMA). The answers to these cases will come in at the end of June. Quite frankly I am hopeful, but know that the supreme court will probably not make a national consensus on this issue.

The Supreme court of the U.S unlike our own is very politically motivated. It is relatively safe to assume that their our 4 justices on both sides of bench for and against same sex marriage and Anthony Kennedy in the middle left to decide. What I suspect will probably occur is that the Supreme court will strike down Prop 8 claiming it is unconstitutional. Therefore re-legalizing same sex marriage in the California, and California only. This unfortunately I don`t believe will be a Rov Vs Wade decision, where the entire country is effected by the ruling.

The Canadian Progressive: The Obama Drone War Doctrine We Still Know Nothing About

Posted March 1, 2013 by Guest Blog

The Disaffected Lib: The China Dream

Posted February 15, 2013 by The Mound of Sound

Prominent Chinese military officers are speaking of an east Asia from which the U.S. has been forced out.  And they’re hoping to see that reality within 20-years.

Senior Colonel Liu Mingfu, at the People’s Liberation Army’s National Defence University, told Fairfax Media this week that American strategic influence would be confined ”east of the Pacific midline” as it is displaced by Chinese power throughout East Asia, including Australia. Colonel Liu’s interpretation of one facet of what the new Chinese leader, Xi Jinping, calls ”a new type of great power relationship” adds to the uncertainty and anxiety surrounding China’s ambitions. On January 31 James Fanell, intelligence chief for the US Pacific Fleet, which commands six aircraft carrier groups, told a San Diego conference that China’s ”expansion into blue waters is largely about countering the Pacific Fleet”.

”And I can tell you, as the Fleet Intelligence Officer, the PLA Navy . . . → Read More: The Disaffected Lib: The China Dream
