The Girls season 4 finale was last week. Because of various reasons, I am finally putting pen to paper about it now. However, my response is mostly one of exasperation, because frankly, I’m sick of fans and recappers insisting Hannah finally grows up on that episode because she doesn’t. Let’s examine the facts, shall we? […]
Big Brother Canada season three premieres tonight on Global, and no one is as excited about this as the BBCAN host Arisa Cox. “It is so huge, we are so thrilled!…because it’s on Global in prime time, I excited for the people who have never seen the show or have watched maybe one episode of Big Brother US and they don’t know what all the fuss is about – when they see tonight’s episode, they will be believers,” said Arisa when I talked to her this morning.
I think all of the regular Big Brother fans were excited last year when the announcement came out that the reality show would be moving from the specialty channel Slice over to the main Shaw channel Global. With the audience reach widening, there are all sorts of opportunities to make believers out of all Canadians instead of just the die hards.
If I were Arisa, all I would be thinking about would be the jump in audience. With so many more people potentially watching the show, would that put Arisa off her game? In her words, no. “…if one person is watching or if 3 million people are watching, I always want it to be the best.”
I tried to get Arisa to give me some spoilers (if I were her I would have given them to me and no one else – obviously), but she would not budge. What she did tell me, “We’ve got a ton of superfans in the house…everybody knows the game, everybody knows the show. They are well versed…As a production team we are going to make them throw all that stuff out the window.” So basically – get ready for a season of twists.
“What we have planned for the season is so next level – you won’t be able to look away,” said Arisa. I am counting on it.
Big Brother Canada premieres tonight on Global TV at 9 PM MST/8 PM EST…Arisa will be wearing a navy and black dress as all the superfans walk into the house.
Kimmy can be called “unbreakable” because a cult leader attempted to break her, by locking her and three other women in an underground bunker in Indiana for 15 years.
This week’s recap covers the fact that nothing much happened, since it was a non-elimination leg that involved one team being stuck at the airport for ages. But Phil makes it sound more exciting than it was, because he’s Phil! Before they leave, recently engaged team Matt and Ashley gets to watch a pretty neat […]
It’s not everyday you receive a bionic arm from your favourite superhero. But young Alex Mead got just that when he got to spend a special afternoon with Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr. Alex, who was born with a partially developed arm, […]
Last week on the Race, as Phil reminds us from the get-go, it proved to be an extremely dumb idea to take selfies next to a moving train. (Although not as dumb as taking them in front of one.) Team Broken Compass was eliminated, but they saved the obnoxious “peace out” gesture for this episode […]
One of the big reasons I’ve usually resisted recapping ‘The Amazing Race’ is because I’ll be honest, I always felt like Television Without Pity already did the same thing and they did it better than I could. (You can feel free to jump in and boost my ego in the comments, but it’s not required.) […]
As parents we sometimes wonder what the future will be like for our kids. What will they become when they are adults? For example, you see your kid playing endless hours with Lego and what goes through your mind? Maybe […]

Not everyone gets excited over the idea of being an older sibling. And some of them definitely aren’t afraid to show it. It looks like little 2-year-old Piper was more than happy being an only child, because as soon she found […]

Over the holiday break I had this conversation with friends and family about what books we’ve read and then which corresponding movies we’ve watched. Are the characters in the movie or show who you’ve imagined? With the highly anticipated 50 […]
My Canadian television dreams have come true. As we all know, I am obsessed with the Levys – OBSESSED. When Dan and Eugene are photographed together I die. When you put the two of them and Catherine O’Hara in a TV show I basically…just…how am I bre…
Today, TVO launched a new live-action mystery solving kids series, Odd Squad, with math in mind. But before your kids tune out listen up! It’s not “ugh, math”…but a more “oh, that’s soooo cool math!” The television series involves a […]
In my next life I am going to be a meteorologist. The only job that seems to be safe even if you’re wrong in weather predictions. About two months ago, one had proudly proclaimed that we are in for a […]

Listen, I love prank videos as much as the next person. You know, the ones where people jump out of closets to scare unsuspecting victims, switching sugar to salt — that kind of stuff. The kind of prank where both parties […]
Guys, did you hear? Halloween is on a Friday this year! Awesome! Which means the kids can stay up a little later and adults may choose to continue the night of spellbound fun to the wee hours of the morning! […]

I’ve always wanted to experience what it’s like to be on one of those cooking reality shows. You know, the ones where you’re under pressure and then presented to highly regarded food critics — like a sacrificial lamb? Yep. I recently […]
There’s been a lot of talk on weather and climate change lately, but this is hands down the most heated weather debate I’ve seen thus far. I mean, is it really raining outside or is it just sprinkling? We can’t […]
By now we’ve all settled into the new school year. First week jitters have been replaced by familiar faces and learning expectations. We had our curriculum night this week and the teacher reminded us to support our kids at home. […]
